Achieved Our Dreams
Not sure we could have achieved all our dreams without you, so just wanted to say thanks for being the calming influence that you were.
JW, Bramcote

I'm overjoyed to tell you that on October 29 our son was born a healthy 3.4Kg. Thank you for your help with our IVF acupuncture!
Mary Jo
I believe that acupuncture definitely helped me. My stress levels reduced quite noticeably which was great. We are expecting twins.

If you have found this information helpful, please mention us on your treatment clinic bulletin board. Thank you.
Undergoing IVF or ICSI (Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection)? Looking for acupuncture to support your treatment and to help you relax?
We work regularly with patients receiving treatment at the local assisted reproduction centres, such as CARE Nottingham or NURTURE (we are located a few minutes drive from each, and within easy reach of Derby and the M1), and so understand something of what you are going through.
We can also provide 'transfer day' acupuncture for you if you are travelling in from other areas. Please ask.

The British Acupuncture Council http://acupuncture.org.uk/public-research.html  suggests that 'research has established plausible mechanisms to explain how acupuncture may boost fertility. These include regulating fertility hormones, reducing stress, increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs and counteracting the effects of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)'.

Several studies have looked at the benefit of combining acupuncture and IVF - for example a study in 2002 (Paulus) suggested that acupuncture could significantly increase the clinical pregnancy rate.  A study  published in the British Medical Journal in 2008 (Manheimer) conclude that there was preliminary evidence of benefit. Two studies in 2010 (Anderson, Macashi) failed to agree and showed no significant benefit.

It would therefore appear from the data that performing acupuncture around the time of embryo transfer may be beneficial, although individual studies are still conflicting and it is clear that more randomised controlled studies with larger numbers is neccessary in order to prove this.

We suggest that you talk to us before your treatment cycle commences. On your first visit you will then be given a thorough consultation - taking into account your IVF/ICSI protocol, ongoing blood tests, ultrasound scans, etc - from which we can assess your individual circumstances and suggest a way forward.

Please give us a call and see what we can do for you.
