| Based in Nottingham, the Acupuncture Fertility Centre specialises in providing complementary healthcare for couples who want to become parents and are having difficulties. You may have a specific diagnosis such as polycystic ovary syndrome or endometriosis, or simply 'unexplained fertility'. You may have been trying for a baby for at least 6 months, and IVF has been suggested as the next step, but you want to explore all the options first. | When you attend the centre for the first time, you will be asked about your general health, lifestyle, energy levels and so on, as well as the details of your menstrual cycle - length, timing, blood loss etc. Your tongue and pulse will be examined in detail, and you may be asked to start a daily basal body temperature (BBT) chart. Acupuncture places great emphasis on observing what goes on outside the body to discern what is going on inside. Treatment will be aimed at restoring and correcting imbalances identified by this process. To help this along, you may be encouraged to participate in your treatment by, for example making dietary changes or performing exercises.
